Quest for quality Hongwon prepares itself to face the 21st century of paper. Hongwon makes every effort to develop better quality of paper which will record and express new civilization. An enterprise is a living entity. R & D is the source of promising the eternal power of life and improvement. R & D of Hongwon is mainly concentrated on three sectors. These are development of better quality of paper, improvement of paper making process and investment for advanced equipments. Development of Better Quality of Paper : Advancement of civilization always requires better quality and new kinds of paper. A demand of customers for paper becomes more specialized and competition for quality of paper among suppliers becomes more severer. Suppliers have to not only satisfy the needs of current customers but also forecast and develop new paper which our new generation will demand for. Somebody should take the lead of developing better quality and new kinds of paper and Hongwon does now. Improvement of Paper Making Process : Today's paper industry is in an era of mass production and high speed. In order to achieve mass production and high speed, each step of paper making process should be reexamined. All factors which affect mass production, high speed and quality of paper such as stock preparation, layouts of equipments, efficiency of movements of materials, chemical and physical properties and etc. are analyzed and realigned by Hongwon. Investment for Advanced Equipments : Paper industry is a typical capital-intensive industy. It is an industry which should give priority to investment for the state-of-the-art machines and equipments. New equipments mean new technotogy. Hongwon sets a goal of being number one in Korea until 1997 through short and mid-term investment projects and in the world until 2003 through long-term investment projects as a single paper mill. The 21st century of paper which Hongwon prepares for is getting closer as planned. |
